Afghanistan End to End
About This Tour
The Afghanistan 16 day tour is our most complete itinerary — every major region in one trip. Sixteen days, four domestic flights, and the only Darya route that includes Jalalabad and the Panjshir Valley. From Kabul the tour drops down the Tang-e Gharu Gorge — a 1,800-metre descent into the subtropical Nangarhar plain — to Jalalabad and Hadda, where the Tapa Shotor Buddhist Monastery preserves Gandharan-era sculpture from the 2nd–4th century CE. Heading north, we visit the Panjshir Valley and the Massoud Mausoleum, then the Topdara Stupa, then continue to Bamiyan and Band-e Amir, the Ghaznavid minarets, the Blue Mosque at Mazar and ancient Balkh. From there we fly west to Herat for the Timurid mosque and Sufi shrines, then south to Kandahar for the Red Mosque and the Shrine of the Cloak. Soviet armour wreckage outside Bagram, the Darul Aman Palace ruins, the Bala Hissar fortress, and the Murad Khani lanes of Old Kabul round out the start and finish. Sixteen days, fifteen hotel nights, four domestic flights, a private 4x4 with driver, a licensed Afghan guide throughout, and every entrance fee and provincial permit. From $3,194 per person — the longest and most complete Afghanistan expedition we run.
