About this Day Trip
One full day that shows you every layer of Kabul — Buddhist, Mughal, royal and bazaar Kabul — with a night in a comfortable hotel included, so it fits perfectly before or after any of our tours.
We start early, before the city traffic, driving out to the Shewaki Stupa on Kabul's south-eastern edge: a Buddhist stupa from the 4th-5th century, when this valley sat on the pilgrimage road to the great monasteries. Back in the city, the National Museum of Afghanistan holds one of Central Asia's great collections — Bactrian, Buddhist and Islamic treasures that survived everything the last decades threw at them. From there we walk the terraces of Babur Garden, the 16th-century resting place of the first Mughal emperor, rebuilt beautifully and full of Kabuli families on any good afternoon. The Ka Faroshi Bird Market is old Kabul at its most alive — canaries, fighting partridges and pigeon fanciers in a lane that has not changed in a century. We end on Maranjan Hill as the light softens, with the whole city spread below.
Guide, private transport, lunch, every entrance ticket and photo permit, and your Kabul hotel night (3-star, breakfast) are all included. Day trips are add-ons: book this together with any main tour - it is the ideal first or last day in Afghanistan.
