🧭 Why Every Tour Is Private

All seven Afghanistan tour packages below run as private tours. That means your vehicle, your guide, your dates — no fixed calendar, no minimum group size, no other travellers joining unless you invite them. One person books the same tour as twelve people. The route is yours.

Every Afghanistan tour package on this page is operated by Darya Expeditions directly. We are the ground operator: our vehicles, our guides, our drivers, our Kabul office. When you book a private tour in Afghanistan through us, you are not paying a foreign reseller's commission on top of the tour price.

Five days to fifteen — how to choose:

The five-day Buddhas & Blue Lakes is the right starting point if you are short on time or want to test Afghanistan before a longer trip. It covers the two things most travellers come for: the Buddhas of Bamiyan and the blue lakes of Band-e Amir.

The ten-day Grand Afghanistan is our flagship private tour and the most complete introduction to the country — Kabul, Herat, Bamiyan, Band-e Amir, Mazar-i-Sharif. It also runs as a fixed-date group departure if you prefer to join other travellers. See Afghanistan group tours.

The twelve and fifteen-day packages are for repeat visitors and serious travellers who want everything: the south (Kandahar, Lashkargah), Panjshir Valley, the full north, and every UNESCO-listed site in the country.

What every private Afghanistan tour package includes:

  • 4★ hotels throughout (Khyber Kabul, Sadaf Herat, Royal Bamiyan, Arsalan Mazar)
  • All domestic flights where required — Kabul–Herat, Kabul–Mazar, Kabul–Kandahar — booked at cost, no markup
  • All ground transport in modern 4×4s or minibuses, our own drivers
  • A licensed Afghan English-speaking guide for the full duration
  • Every entrance fee, every permit, every site registration
  • Full breakfast and one main meal daily

Not included: international flights to Kabul, Afghanistan visa (we issue your Letter of Invitation free), travel insurance, tips.

Pricing structure: One traveller pays the single-pax rate. Groups of two to twenty-five pay a per-person rate that drops as group size increases. Private tours are priced on request — send us your dates and group size and we send a fixed quote within 12 hours.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Which Afghanistan tour package is right for me?

The answer depends on one question: is this your first time, or are you returning?

First time: start with the 5-day (Bamiyan only) or go straight to the 10-day Grand Afghanistan — Kabul, Herat, Bamiyan, Mazar. That route covers the four cultural capitals and the two natural landmarks that make Afghanistan worth the journey. It runs as a private tour year-round and as a monthly group departure.

Returning traveller: go south (Kandahar, the Pashtun heartland), go north (Panjshir Valley, Wakhan Corridor approach), or go deep (the 15-day expedition covers every major region in one trip).

Photographer: the 8-day Photography Afghanistan tour is built around light — golden hour at the Buddhas, Blue Mosque before dawn in Mazar, Herat Citadel at sunset, the salt flats between Kabul and Ghazni.

How are private Afghanistan tours different from group tours?

Private tours depart on any date you choose. Group tours run on a fixed monthly calendar. On a private tour, the route can be adjusted to your interests; on a group tour, the itinerary is set. Your vehicle, your guide, your pace.

Both formats use the same guides, hotels, and Kabul team. The difference is control over dates and pace. See Afghanistan Group Tours for fixed-date departures.
